Children’s hearts are broken when their parents fight, separate, and/or divorce. Caught in the crossfire, children’s minds may never be the same. They cannot understand, but here is what they say to Mommy and Daddy: “I just want you to be happy together and love me just as I love you. Don’t make me take sides. Stop the games. Curl up with me and love me always.”
Proof that you could be a bad parent: your home is only a house and you have hatred toward your spouse. You batter your spouse with hard words or harder fists. Your desire for your material items and associations with your material friends are more important than an inexpensive baseball glove for your son or attending your daughter’s dance recital. You have time for others, but only a quick “not right now” for your kids.
God speaks directly to you through your children’s tears, and God will deal harshly with parents that mentally, emotionally, and/or physically hurt their children.
So long before your children turn eighteen, love them unconditionally. Make up with your spouse and never hurt your children in any way. Proof 18 that God speaks directly through your child is when you hear God say, “Mommy and Daddy, just love me.”
