About the Book

He Never Left Me is the story of Christa Mayaliwa’s battle with systemic arthritis (adult’s Still’s disease) as a child, its relapse when she turned sixteen, and her father’s abandonment of their family in the midst of their emotional and financial struggles. More than that, it is a story of the goodness of God. Despite life’s billows, God has been able to carry her through it all. This story is for those who are affected with a chronic illness aside from arthritis, parents with children who are in a similar state, those who want to be inspired, Christians, ministers, and doctors. This is Christa’s testimony.

About the Author

Christa Mayaliwa has written several short stories, poems, and essays. She is a daughter of immigrants from the Democratic Republic of Congo and currently resides in Ottawa, Ontario. This is her first published work.

First off,thank you,Christa.

Thank you for sharing your testimony with the world. You were honest. You were transparent. You shared every moment - high and low - with us. And I give God thanks for it. Not only, did you share but you articulated it so eloquently and beautifully. It usually takes me awhile to finish books that are longer than 300 pages. ;) I must admit, I flew through it because it was so hard to put down.

I felt like I was walking with you step by step, moment by moment, as you championed your way through your trials. Your 16th bday. Your graduation. Your prom night. Your days, weeks, months in the hospital. The road is not easy, but your testimony has shown, that with God, we are conquerors. I thank God for your mother's strength, whose faith carried your family through. I thank God also for your siblings.

This review cannot give enough justice on how great this book is. This book is life-changing. It is currently on my shelf, among other award winning and best selling books. We thank God. Thank you for educating us on systemic arthritis. I have always heard good things about CHEO and its staff, but this book really confirmed that!

Finally, personally this book has encouraged me in my walk of faith. No matter the challenge, we ARE overcomers in Christ!
