Jesus Christ fought identical battles as those we fight every day. Satan tried conquering Jesus after His time of fasting in the desert. Christ was weary, and the Word says He was hungered. Though tired, Christ still does not fear, nor does He doubt the power of the Word of God. His powerful example gives each of us the answer to fear and doubt. Jesus Christ is indeed the living Word. John writes it best, “The Word became flesh and dwelt among us!”( John 1:14) The Word of God becomes Christ’s ultimate weapon to conquer every temptation. That is why we as Christians are instructed to hide the Word in our hearts. It is a necessity to our survival when fear and doubt come knocking. Christ’s words are full, bold, and confident. There is no doubt of their validity, for He is the living Word. There is no doubt of the power of the Word because God Almighty secures His harnessed faith. That same faith is available for each of us. God has extended a measure of faith to every man. Use it, saints! When fear and doubt come in, tap into the faith that God harvested in your very soul.
I thought about this fear and doubt as I saw it demonstrated at my job just a few weeks ago. My eight-year-old daughter, Grace, stood on the back loading dock that is about four foot high. As she prepared to leave, her mother stretched out her arms and motioned for her to jump. Grace walked over to the edge and looked over. Fear grabbed hold of her. Fear of the height, falling, and getting hurt were probably all going through her mind simultaneously. Doubt always accompanies fear, and I am sure she doubted as well whether her mother would be able to catch her, especially because she was eight and such a big girl. Her mother urged her again, and just as she would get near the edge, she would become afraid, back up, and just couldn’t make her legs give way to jump. I urged her to go for it. “Your mom will catch you.” After much coaxing from her mother, her sister Rachael, and myself, she pushed the fear and doubt aside just long enough to lunge forward and let herself fall from the dock into her mother’s waiting arms. She screamed with excitement as her mother wrapped her arms around her and she knew she was finally safe.
Christ wants to do the same with us, but we must overcome that fear, push aside that doubt, and know He will always be waiting there to catch us with arms wide open. Don’t be afraid. Just jump into His mighty arms.

About the Author
Gregory Richardson was born in Raleigh, North Carolina, to David and Inez Richardson and lived at home with eight siblings. While spending most of his childhood in a sharecropper’s house outside the small town of Wendell, North Carolina, he began to share his thoughts, songs, and prayers with the Lord at night on a deserted country road. This proved to be the preparation for his ministry. In January 1987, he preached his first trail sermon entitled “Putting on Love,” which he wrote in his teenage years. He was licensed by the Pentecostal Church as a minister in 1987 and ordained as an elder in the Great Lakes Diocese, Church of the Living God, in mid-1989. From 1987 to 2006, he served as pastor, co-pastor, and lay minister around the world, including Hessich Oldendorf, Germany; Crete, Greece; Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; Colorado Springs’ Colorado; Osan, Korea; Adana, Turkey; Shreveport, Louisiana; and San Diego, California. He has always enjoyed writing Bible studies, short stories, music, poetry, and sketching. He currently resides in the Carolinas where he works for a small buying service and is the owner/operator of a delivery service named “HaDaRa & Grace Delivers”.
