Christmas 2000 was a little disappointing for Papaw. Emy and Teia were growing up and always knew it was Stan when he called pretending to be Santa Claus. He had successfully fooled them in years past, but this was the year he would no longer be able to do it. However...he could still call Blake. Blake was two years younger than the girls and Papaw might have yet another year to call. Preparing Jim for the call that was to come, Stan put his hanky over the phone to disquise his voice, cleared his throat and did his best Santa impersonation. Blake answered the phone, listened intently, and said..."Papaw, I know that's you. You're number is on the caller ID"

What fun it is to have grandchildren! And even more fun to remember years later the things they said and did. Mothers and Grandmothers should journal their memories and then perhaps later share them in a book. You and the grandchildren will be glad you did. It’s amazing how much you forget. So grab that pencil and begin to write. I hope you have as much fun as I did.
About the Author
Jane Thomas and her husband, Stan, celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary and fifty years in the ministry on September 1, 2012. They have ministered to four churches, all in southern Indiana.
Brownstown, Indiana, is now home to Stan and Jane. Jane was raised in Indianapolis by Christian parents and has two sisters, Nancy and Debbie, and one brother, Jim.
Jane and Stan have two sons, James and Larry. On October 15, 2008, Jim, forty years old, passed away due to complications of cancer. Larry and his wife, Margie, live nearby. He is the father of Jane’s twin granddaughters, Emyrald and Teia. Jim left them two grandchildren, Blake and Jenna. Jim's wife, Diana, also lives nearby.
Stan often babysat the grandchildren while Jane worked as a secretary. She couldn’t witness the fun times they had together. Stan would take them on church calls, and something always happened. At the end of the day, he would tell Jane what was said or done and she would jot it on a piece of paper, put it in a file, and then dream about writing a book someday. Things like these are quickly forgotten, and she wanted to remember and also to remind the grandchildren of the joy and laughter they gave to her.
