God's Calling

Things seem to be going smoothly with one exception. In early November my cheap pay- by- the- minute cell phone starts doing strange things. Almost every night I’m awakened by the text message sound that my cell phone has. When I pick it up to check it there is no message. Eventually I even turned the cell phone off at night. The message alert continued even with it off.

After about 10 days of this happening, I recall how my friend Diana had used the telephone to contact me from the spirit world. I was beginning to wonder if there was somebody who was trying to contact me again. My mind was baffled for a couple more nights. One evening Robert came over for dinner. I had not mentioned to anyone about my cell phone being ”haunted”. I had a suspicion that it could have been my friend John who committed suicide back in August, 2011. John was one of my best friends from the camp in Florida and we had worked together four years. He was from Sweden and had gone back to Sweden after camp. We had stayed in touch through Facebook and e-mail but not regularly. I figured it had to be him because I didn’t know anyone else who died recently who would want to contact me. I could tell that talking about this made Robert a little uneasy.

That night, before went to bed, I spoke out loud. I said “if this is you John, give me the signal at one o’clock in the morning”. I woke up after 2 AM and realized that I had not received the signal. Right at that moment an idea popped into my head. I rarely used my cell phone and only a few people had that number. And only one person texted me rather than called me. That person was Robert. So before I fell back to sleep I stated if this message pertains to Robert please give me a signal at 7:05 AM. I wasn’t really surprised when I receive the signal at 7:05 AM. What did surprise me though was that this was not a message from the spirit. The message actually came from Robert himself at 7:05 AM. The message said “My dad just called me. The ambulance took my mother to the hospital and she turned blue”. I didn’t understand exactly what that meant. I thought he meant that she was short of oxygen and was taken to the hospital. What he did not say in his message was that his mother was dead. He posted it on Facebook about 20 min. later. I immediately drove to the home where he was staying to offer my condolences. He was devastated. I never felt so bad for anyone in my life.
