Anything New
We wonder how in the world could Adam fall for the trick?
Then we step back and say to ourselves it was the first time. It was the devil’s first big play. But all through the Bible people fell. They fell for the same lies the same lusts the exact same swollen pride. Yes they did. We can’t believe the children of God:
Wandering
Begging
Staggering
Cheating
Lying
Abandoning
Shipwrecking
Tricking
Plotting
Stealing
Swearing
Ridiculing
Exaggerating
Denying
Betraying
Boasting
Pleading
Sneering
Lusting
Or
Falling.
But they did.
The sad part is:
We do the same things.
There we are at our offices, or shops our schools or clinics…our eyes wandering, our emails begging for attention. We stagger, and cheat and lie. Whether its about women or taxes we are caught.
So we form
A trick
A plot
A way to steal.
To wrench free from the pain
The death that is sure to come.
Abandoning our homes
Our kids
Our spouses
We shipwreck our lives.
Swearing, denying and pleading for either the law
Or our families to not
Hold us accountable.
Then to throw everyone off
We ridicule and sneer we betray the person who got us to lust and fall in the first place.
Boasting loudly that we were perfect and that it was the other guy’s fault.
In heaven and hell alike both powers shake their heads.
Neither one can believe it.
For since time began the children of God have fallen and it has never ever been over anything new.

About the Book
When we think of God, we automatically tend to think of Him in a couple of extremes. He is either some nebulous power that pops up every now and then, or some sort of wild control freak wiping out nations, causing hurricanes, and ruining fun. This book will hopefully show the reader a picture of God’s intimate and absolute communion with mankind. The stories deal with themes not commonly associated with the Almighty. In this book Jesus walks on water, but not on people. He smiles on success, but not sin. His favor falls on the most unsuspecting, and most of the time we never suspect it could be us. The stories and poems raise questions, spirits, hopes, and sometimes eyebrows. Author Janet Hanna hopes that, as you read this book, you will know there is a God. He rolls up His sleeves and goes to work shutting things, holding off on things, saying “yes” to this and “no” to that. He is closing doors but opening windows—windows of stained glass.
About the Author
Janet Hanna was raised on the Wyoming plains. She is a retired elementary school teacherwho enjoys spending time with her granddaughters, painting, sewing, and reading. She and her husband spend their lives together in Georgia.
