Two Roads

Matthew 7:13 and 14 tell us about two different roads on which we can travel. The road we take is left entirely up to each one of us.

Along the broad road we find: murder – with guns, knives, bombs, abortion instruments; robbing; cheating; lying. There is mistrust, hatred, envy; jealousy. As we continue along the road we run into foolishness, lust, pride, adultery, fornication, partiality. As we walk farther we see hard heartedness, rejection of the truth and He who is the truth.

This broad road leads to destruction and death of body, soul, and spirit. The broad road leads to an eternity of pain and misery. An enormous number of people have chosen, are choosing, and will choose to take this road.

The narrow road is completely different. Along this road we find: love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance. We also find kindness, mercy, service to others. People on this road seek the truth and He who is the truth.

The narrow road leads to eternal life of soul and spirit. There are only a few who have chosen, are choosing, and will choose this road. Those who walk down this road will come to a hill called Calvary. On that hill are three crosses. On the one in the middle hangs the Son of God. Blood is running down His face. Water and blood are pouring from the hole in His side. The sky is very dark. There is a feeling of despair. Jesus – Is – Dead. We don’t stay on this part of the road. We go a little farther. Here we see a tomb with a great stone rolled in front of it. The cave is sealed and there are guards all around it. We sense that this is not our final destination so we press on. Again we come to the same tomb, but this time the stone has been rolled away. The guards are gone so we take a look inside. The tomb is empty. We turn around and there standing before us is the risen Lord in all of His glory. He beckons to us. He turns and begins to walk. We follow Him. As we walk, we are filled with an overwhelming sense of peace. In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, we shed our old, tired, worn out bodies and receive new immortal bodies.

At last our journey has come to an end. We are looking in the face of God.

Two roads, two lifestyles. Which road are you on?

Two roads that I can take,

What a difficult decision to make.

“Choose me!” I heard the broad road call.

“Walk down my lane with its trees so strong and tall.

Don’t fear the evil you see along the way,

Follow me, I’ll not let you stray.”

But the other road was more discreet.

I heard it say, “Come walk down my narrow street.

Along my path you’ll find eternal life,

For my way leads to Jesus the Christ.”

So I decided to go the narrow way.

I pray that you will join in with me today.

“He that believeth on Him is not condemned: but he that believeth nor is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”
