Judging, when we judge we are making a choice between what we believe is right and wrong. Everybody judges. To say you don’t is hypocritical. It is a part of the human psyche. We constantly make decisions for ourselves about what we feel is right or wrong. Right and wrong for each person is based upon their moral character. Moral character is primarily learned from our parents and subsequently from our life experiences. For believers in the scripture of the Holy Bible we have been taught right and wrong from God and through His son Jesus.

The basis for judging is to have an opinion. Every human has an opinion about something. There is not one of us that are without opinion.

That is how we know what our character is comprised of. When we meet someone for the first time we generally query them about different subjects to get their opinions, their views and outlook on life, to find out what type of character we are dealing with. The answers we receive tell us their beliefs and values; liberal, conservative, religious, political, kind, angry, etc.

All these answers let us know the character of the individual and if that person has the same outlook and moral values as ours or not. Nobody likes to hang around with someone that has differing opinions to their own. We all like to gravitate to others with similar perceptions and moral foundations.

As a Christian I certainly do not wish to associate with atheists as they are the antithesis to my moral character. They are full of hate and anger at just the mention of my affiliation to Jesus. But how do I know if someone is an atheist or not? Or just what exactly is their moral foundation unless I ask specific questions to get specific answers? The only way is through conversation and a conversation without an opinion on any subject is void and useless. The Legislative Branch of the United States Federal government is comprised of nothing but opinions on every subject matter affecting our society.

If you are a total stranger to me and we were having a conversation, I might ask you what your faith is. Some would not even want to respond as most people have been taught don’t discuss politics or religion as it creates too much controversy. How do you know what kind of a person you are dealing with if you don’t know these two fundamental foundations of the human psyche? Incidentally true faith has nothing to do with religion and everything to do with a personal relationship with God.

The reason most people do not want to talk about politics and religion, or their faith, is they do not want to offend the other person’s principals on those subjects. You have to be opinionated on these two subjects with specific reasons to support your viewpoint. Which means you have made a moral judgment that your viewpoints are right based upon your learned past experiences. Personally these two topics are the most important things I like to talk about because I can get to know the real you and your viewpoint on life.
