From very far away I heard a sort of mewling noise. I stopped to listen and then as it became louder I recognized it as a baby’s cry. My baby’s cry. The angels surrounded me and tried to comfort me. They told me to keep going forward.
“Come on,” they said.
“Our Father is this way,” they said.
“But she needs me,” I told them. I turned to look at them, begging them with my eyes to understand. “She needs me.”
And they released me and continued toward the light while I seemed to whoosh backwards and was suddenly out of the pipe.

About the Author
Jean Handy Burgin earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Eastern New Mexico University. She is a former retail business owner, a retired science teacher, and is an ordained minister.
She is the mother of two extraordinary daughters and the grandmother of eight wondrous children. In addition to writing, she is working on a cookbook she calls, A Collection of Our Favorite Recipes, which she intends to publish in the future. She also stays busy drawing and sewing and is an avid reader.
Although Ms Burgin currently lives in the Florida Keys with her youngest daughter and her family, she will always be a Texan/New Mexican at heart.
