Excerpt from Chapter IV. During our T-6 training we had what you call a midterm leave. Half of our training was finished and after the leave you would continue with instrument training, gunnery precision flying and all that. The leave was for ten days. Fortunately for me they waived my polishing time and let me go. Well, all the cadets had gotten together and had put up a pot where everybody had to put in a couple of dollars and the cadet who went the furthest from Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan would win the pot.
