About the Book

Years ago people believed that the most important parent was the mother. Fathers were peripheral members of the family. Through the years there has been a revelation that fathers are indeed important and that little girls learn from their fathers what to expect from men. In most cases, girls who were loved and held in high regard by their fathers expected the same treatment from the boys they dated. If they were ignored or belittled, their self-esteem told them they were not worth any better treatment. My choices were predestined. I had no idea I had been receiving a silent message of unworthiness while I was growing up.

About the Author

Cathryn M. Scott has been writing poems, short stories, plays, and keeping journals since her early teenage years. Her first publication was a poem that appeared in the mid-60s on the back of a record album by a popular folk singer in her hometown. Her stories have appeared in “River Voices,” a publication of her local writers group. In addition, she published an article in Christian Single magazine and wrote a column for her local weekly newspaper entitled “Single Parent Corner.” She also had the pleasure of seeing a couple of her one-act plays performed by members of a local theater group. After ten years as a stay-at-home mom she re-entered the work force and is currently employed as the Registrar at a therapeutic boarding school for at-risk teenagers. She is the mother of three adult children and has six grandchildren ranging in age from one year to 25 years. She shares her home with four cats. Two of them love her unconditionally while the other two are ferals she rescued from the street four years ago. They remain ungrateful for her hospitality.
