Most Africans living in the West came seeking for greener pastures to better their lives and that of their family members back in Africa. They came their numbers running away from all kinds of problems in the continent of Africa, some caused and remote controlled by some Westerners. If things are better back in Africa few Africans living in the West will joyfully go back to Africa. Many will go back worse than Naomi. Even though Naomi lost her husband and two sons to death, she was able to go back Jerusalem with a lovely daughter in-law Ruth. God does forbid death, but he divorce. Education and riches without a family, without a wife or a husband are no achievements in the minds of Africans
Many African running away from problems in their continent are confronted by the most painful and challenging monster call divorce. As painful as divorce is the rate of divorce is increasing each day amongst Africans living in the West or in the Diaspora. Some are killing and wives, children and themselves. We cannot fold our hands and watch the evil eat up our marriages and our families in the Diaspora.
This book Rescuing African Marriages in the Diaspora seeks to address the problems facing African marriages in the Diaspora. The book is very simple and easy to understand. It has six chapters. Chapter one is a presented of what Africans have said and are saying about African marriages in the Diaspora. This chapter helps us to come face to with the reality of things in African marriages. Since Africans are living in the West chapter two addresses the things that are also destroying the marriages of our host nations. Westerns are also crying against the high rate of divorce. Knowing and avoiding them will be of great importance to Africans living in the Diaspora. Chapter three talks about the importance of a good marital foundation. Foundation is used in this chapter as reasons, purposes and as the beginning or a starting point. Getting married for wrong reasons leads to struggles and divorce in the marriage. Chapter four is to help African to men and women to think well before asking a girl will you marry? And that the girl should also think well before saying yes I will. This chapter also presents some of the things both of them should thing about.
Chapter five of this book actually deals with some of the things that are destroying African marriages in the Diaspora. If there are avoided by all African in the Diaspora, sun will shine upon their marriages and they will have sincere smiles upon their faces.
