After a long day at the river, Father discovered that Junior had gathered a school of fish into his little pool. He helped Junior collect them into the buckets; they added some water, climbed the bank of the river and headed home. Junior was so proud of the contents he was carrying and could not wait to show his mother what he had achieved. “What will you do with your fish Junior?” She asked. “I’m going to keep them in the swimming pond and take care of them.” He responded as if he was a new parent. Junior took his buckets into the backyard and poured the fish into the pond. The fish were small and the swimming pond was so big compared to the few fish, but his project was now underway.

About the Author
Walter J Erb III, ChFC has provided direction regarding retirement accounts and annuities to thousands of individuals through presentations and counseling. He is a graduate of Franklin University, Columbus, OH with a degree in Finance Management. Walter and his family currently reside in Dallas, Texas where he works for one of the nation’s largest insurance companies.
Walter has written this story, the first in a series, for his two daughters, Jenna and Julia, to help them develop an understanding of financial concepts at an early age. When the principles of this story were realized, and his daughters opened their first investment account, Junior’s Fishpond came to life and Junior began successfully passing along what he had learned.
