Fancy, my precious five pound Yorkshire Terrier, was my saving grace in my greatest time of need. When I received the news that our only daughter was killed in a car accident nine months after she married, my life fell apart. I was still grieving over my loss when a local nursing home called about Fancy. They had heard what a special doggie she was, and asked if the two of us could come on a regular basis. It was like the Lord opened the door to give me a tool to get my mind off my own circumstances and onto the needs of others. That started Fancy's ten years of some incredible experiences of care giving and blessings to many bedridden patients. To the patients delight, Fancy dressed in a different, stylish outfit each month, according to the season or holiday. Their favorite was Fancy as a Christmas doggie angel, complete with wings and halo. Fancy loved all the attention she got and was featured in a newspaper story. I was so grateful that this pint-sized doggie was just what I needed during this time of great loss!

About the Author
Sylvia Lassiter Woody is married, lives in Victoria, Texas, and has three children: Joan, who is with the Lord; two sons, Kelly and Tom, who is married to Dannelle; and three wonderful grandchildren, Hannah, Tyler, and Brock.
Upon retiring from the Marine Corps, Sylvia’s husband, Larry, went to law school and became a lawyer.
She has been published in Angels magazine, a division of Guideposts.
