The Bible is a multi-faceted book, one that includes history, poetry, parables, dietary and health principles, as well as advice on wise living, all of which seem reasonable and relatively easy to understand. But there is another facet of the Bible which is mysterious, even frightening: the prophetic words spoken by many different people, including Jesus Christ, concerning events to take place in the "end times," at the end of the world, events that will be horrifying and cataclysmic in nature.
Why is there anything in the Bible that foretells the future? Why trouble us with what seems like an onslaught of gloom and doom? And is there any point in knowing these things? Can we do anything about it, or are we "mere players" as Shakespeare said?
To answer these questions, especially the question "Why," we need to look at the very beginning of creation, where the Bible tells us a spiritual battle was being waged in the heavenlies between God and a created being known as Satan. This spiritual warfare is the foundation for understanding Bible prophecy.

Understanding Bible Prophecy is an easy-to-read overview of significant Biblical prophecies. It demonstrates the accuracy and authenticity of the Bible, explains the reason for prophecy, and helps the reader to understand world events. It also shows that despite wars, natural disasters, and the suffering caused by human beings, there is hope for the future.
About the Author
Lynne Bryan has taught Bible studies for over 35 years. She is the lay counselor for her church in Scott Valley, California, has a BA in American History and has attended Bible College in Southern Oregon. Understanding Bible Prophecy is based on a class on Biblical prophecy which she has taught for many years. It is intended to be similar to a college survey class in that it gives an overview of significant Biblical prophecies, with the purpose being to whet the reader's appetite for a more in-depth study of God's Word.
Lynne lives in far northern California on a cattle and hay ranch, is married to a fourth-generation rancher, has four children, nine grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. When she is not counseling, teaching Bible studies, or writing, she enjoys riding her horse, gardening, and quilting.
