We had a family meeting the Saturday before Billy and I left for Tulsa. Arrangements were made for the kids to stay with grandparents, my sister and a couple from church, as needed. We didn’t know for sure how long we would be gone. We had been told to plan for at least 3 days, but if we decided to begin treatment it could be longer. Our family’s said that they would see that the kids were taken care of and we were to stay as long as we needed to. They were good to their word, and the kids were well taken care of. None of us had any idea how long we would be gone, but I am pretty sure none of us had any idea it would be as long as it was.
Billy drove the 5 hours to Tulsa. I really don’t know how he did it, as he was really hurting. I kept an eye on traffic in his blind spots and helped as much as I could since he could not turn his head very far due to the pain in his neck

About the Book
This is the story of the ups and downs of the cancer journey taken by a father of six and his family. He is a wonderful Christian man who faces his journey with faith, courage, and strength encouraging all around him. It is a tough journey with disappointments and struggles, as well as victories and joys. It shows how the Lord is always with us, even through the hardest of times. Billy and his wife, Dione, must travel to another state five hours away from their family, to seek treatment for his uncommon form of cancer. The journey continues as treatments work for a while, fail, and new treatment is sought.
About the Author
Dione Campbell has written this book through journaling about her husband’s cancer journey. Billy was diagnosed with multiple myeloma at age thirty-seven. Dione kept an online journal to keep family and friends informed of his treatment and condition. The journal also became a way to witness to and encouragement that the Lord is always with us through everything and gives us the strength we need to get through even the hardest of times.
Dione and her family live in the Russellville, Missouri, area where Dione and Billy met as teenagers. Dione was a homeschooling, stay-at-home mom to their six children until it became necessary for her to go to work due to Billy’s cancer. She does continue to homeschool the kids while working part time.
