The uniqueness of God is eternal, but the truth remains that not every one that claims to know God actually does. Apostle Paul, after several walk and exploits with God, had one major prayer “that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being made conformable unto His death” Philippians 3:10. Paul still desired to know God after the whole lot of revelations and intimacy he had with God.
Moses was not left behind; he desired to know God after the scriptures had spoken about Him Sin Exodus “…as a man speaketh unto His friend…” He had such a relationship and intimacy with God that God spoke to Him face to face as a man speaketh to His friend. In verse 13 of Exodus 33 the bible says,
“Now therefore, I pray thee if I have found grace in thy sight show me now thy way, that I may know thee, that I may find grace in thy sight and consider that this nation is thy people”.
Moses was still seeking to know God’s way that He might know God.
Truly, everyone knows a Mercedes Benz car by sight (identity), but when a Mercedes Benz car develops a mechanical fault, it takes those who genuinely know Mercedes Benz to repair it. Most people have known God, but not all have come to the reality of the attributes of God. Some simply recognise God as one who created the heavens and the earth, a universal being who is powerful and mighty, who can rescue from the hand of the terrible devil. So they relate with Him from the perspective of one who can rescue from the hand of the devil or from terrible circumstances and situation.
It is true, God is great, mighty and able to deliver but that is not all that we should know about God if we must enjoy Him. Those who see God as God, who can rescue them from the hand of the devil alone have only known a bit of God from a side. They pray to God, not because at least He (God) can rescue them from their destruction. They see God as a “spare tyre” needed only when the real tyres are worn out or not in good condition. They consult God only when there are troubles and challenges. Though they pray daily and attend church services and vigils, it is only as Christian tradition demand. They read the bible and encourage others to do so not because they know the Lord as their Lord, but because by Christian culture they must do it. Their sincere worship of God is high when there is scarcity and low when there is plenty.
They have not known the God who is a father, so they believed that certain issues should be brought to God because those issues are “spiritual” and some other issues are to be attended to personally without consulting God because they are not “spiritual”. They see it as not bothering God. The hard issues – satanic attacks, oppression should be brought to God, other issues like where to settle, jobs to do, building of houses do not need the attention of God. God is too great to be bothered about such trivial issues they believe. It is because they have not known the God who is a father. Matt 6:9
God is God to all, but father to those who have forsaken their evil ways by confessing and accepting Jesus Christ as their Lord and saviour. To do so this, the following steps are required:
• accept you are a sinner;
• know within you , you can’t save yourself;
• believe in your heart that Jesus died on the cross of Calvary for your sins;
• confess with your mouth that Jesus should forgive your sins that He should save you and come into your life;
• believe in your heart that you are saved.
Once you are saved, you become a bonafide son or daughter of God. A new nature given by God flows through you. Old things are passed away, all things have become new 2cor 5:17, you longer own yourself, but God owns you. Praise God. This qualifies you to be a child of God. As your father, you have access to Him at anytime, anywhere, you can talk to Him through Jesus your Lord and saviour. You can take hold of all that belongs to God through Jesus. His name is a strong tower, the righteous run into it and is safe.
Jesus Christ is the compendium of all the name of God. Every attributes of God’s name can be found in the name of Jesus Christ. That name is the access you have to the father for all that you need in life. In the name of Jesus – there is life, there is increase, there is blessing, there is abundance: call that name JESUS and you will see the salvation of God. Out of many attributes of God, I am glad to write about you knowing the God who is a Father and a father of increase. It’s my joy that you are reading this book because God is about bringing you into increase. It is a greater joy because our God is a God of increase.
The truth remains that, only God gives increase, we may labour, this is good, but if the Lord does not bring increase, then we have no increase. The scripture in 1 cor 3:7
‘so then neither is He that planteth anything, neither he that watereth: but God that giveth increase’.
The first truth about increase is that neither labour nor sweat brings it, only God brings increase. , Labour, diligence and sweat may qualify for increase but if God does not bring increase, it cannot come.
Surely, God delights in our increase: Gen 2: 28 “And God blessed them, and God said unto them, be fruitful and multiply and replenish the earth and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the fowls of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth”.
He is a God of increase and He has commanded increase on seeds, every ‘seed’ must bring increase but then the power is with God. We may sow ‘seeds’, if God does not command increase, nothing worthwhile will come forth. Seeds in this sense is not restricted to agricultural products or finance, but our deeds, actions, thoughts e.t.c.
We, therefore, must learn and understand the basic principles of God in bringing forth increase. Surely, the Lord will increase you and your children more and more.
