"The door opened and my heart sank as I spied across the room the woman who held my future in her arms. She looked peaceful yet questioning. And as I suspected, she had lots of things to say as we began our conversation. What surprised me most was how easy it seemed for her to place her baby in my arms, which she did almost immediately. It was at this time that the reality of what was happening flooded my awareness. The baby I longed for was finally coming into my life, yet MY joy was a direct result of HER sorrow. The very same baby I was privileged to receive was the same one she had to let go of. It was a bittersweet time, yet somehow I managed to choke back the tears until we were home with our new little addition. It wasn't until years later that I fully understood how wonderfully God's grace had adorned both of us "mothers," each for different tasks in regard to this one little life. He had answered both of our prayers and it was nothing short of a miracle.

About the Author
“…clearly you are an epistle of Christ…” (2 Corinthians 3:3a) Deby Scott’s life is living proof that all things are possible with God. Having to face the heartbreak of infertility and the probability of married life without children, she and her husband chose instead to pursue their dreams through adoption. In just fifteen short years, they became parents of seven children. Deby’s heart is to see all women fulfilled in their desire to be moms. In addition to being “chief cook and bottle washer, taxi driver, and cheerleader at her kids’ sporting events,” she ministers alongside her pastor/husband, Eric, at Celebrate! Family Church in Leicester, New York. She is a licensed minister with Elim Fellowship in Lima, New York. She and her husband have been sought out by countless couples for direction, encouragement, and wisdom as they set out on their adoption journeys. She has been a guest speaker at women’s events and conferences. Her hobbies include riding her Harley, teaching and making paper crafts, including cards of encouragement, and now writing about her family. She and her family make their home in Western New York.
