Chapter One
Ouch, that feels good!
Staring out of the large picture window with the scenic view of Manhattans neon lights, Janet swayed to the sounds of jazz as it penetrated the atmosphere. Kelly’s Place, located downtown, New York City, was twenty minutes away from her office, just across the George Washington Bridge. Kelly’s was known for its plush environment, exquisite food, as well as its good music. It was a very popular social club where Janet spent most of her Friday nights escaping from a long week of dealing with psychiatric patients. Today had been particularly nerve-racking. Each patient suffered from some form of altered mental status, causing her to feel as though she had just climbed out of Alice in Wonderland’s rabbit hole.
“Can I get you anything else?” The server asked.
“Yeah, a Long Island iced tea,”
“Sure and how are you this evening?”
Hating small talk, Janet’s eyes quickly squinted. “Just get me my damn drink!” She rolled her eyes, let out a loud sigh, and crossed her shapely legs. And then she began scanning the crowded room. It seemed like every good looking man she saw was taken. She noticed Keith from afar seated across the room at the bar. Hoping desperately that he didn’t see her, she quickly lowered her head and began rummaging through her Gucci purse. Keith was an egotistical, arrogant, attorney who had been pursuing her for months before she finally gave in and went out with him. I hope he doesn’t bring his boring ass over here, she thought probing through her bag. All that talk about how good he was in bed, huh, I could have had a better time all by myself. She slowly turned back toward the bar and caught the eye of a much younger man, who was openly staring at her. He was the finest young thing she’d ever seen. He was gently nodding to the music while biting on his lower lip. The sight of him nearly stole her breath away. She knew he was no stranger to the gym because his tight fitted shirt revealed his strong bulging biceps. She quickly turned away “Mmm… mmm… mmm” She said, wetting her lips “I hope he’s alone.”
“Hello Ms. Janet,” a deep baritone voice snapped her back into reality “Is this seat taken?” It was Keith.
“What?”
“I asked if this seat was taken.”
“No it isn’t, and to be honest, I’d like to keep it that way” she said forcing a smile.
“Aww, come on Janet,” Keith pleaded sitting down in the seat next to her. “Let me sit next to you and stimulate your mind a bit,”
“Hmm, it’s not my mind that needs stimulation,” she thought.
“You’re just who I was hoping to run into you tonight. I need someone to celebrate with, and you’re the lucky lady. I nailed a multi-million dollar account today for the firm,” he bragged, “and baby, I’d like your company.” Janet quickly became anxious fearing that Keith had just interfered with the obvious chemistry brewing between her and the mysterious young man across the room. “Look Keith. If you don’t mind, I’d like to be left alone!” Her eyes fixated on Keith’s unattractive receding hairline.
“Hey woman, what’s wrong with you?” He asked tenderly grabbing her by the hand. “Did you forget all about the other night?”
Janet quickly snatched her hand away, let out a loud sigh, leaned closely toward him, and whispered into his ear, “What was there to remember?” she rolled her eyes “Look Keith, the only reason I slept with you was because I had drank way too much. And believe me it was to my regret.”
Keith’s eyebrows quickly raised, his face flushed, “Oh--so it’s like that?” Keith asked.
“Yes, it’s like that” Janet nodded. There was a sudden silence between them. Keith gave her a wicked stare and scratched at his chin. He couldn’t believe it. He was certain they had both shared the same amazing experience. Janet broke the awkward moment by abruptly storming off toward the ladies room. She blushed as she passed the young man that had caught her attention from across the room. She could feel his eyes glued to her every move as she gracefully strolled past him, her hips swaying to their natural rhythm.
When she returned to her seat she was glad to find that Keith had gone. She quickly began searching the room for her admirer who had left his seat. Suddenly, she spotted the well groomed young man approaching her. He wore a single diamond stud in each ear, with a face as smooth as a baby’s butt. Not bad…not bad at all, she thought tugging at her short skirt. He gave Janet a subtle wink and sat down next to her
“Yo. I been watching you all night, and damn, I like what I see.” He smiled
“Oh really,” she said not impressed with his unskilled speech.
“Yeah, was that your man I saw you with earlier?”
“Him? No, he’s just a friend. Why?” she questioned, scanning him up and down as if he were a sweet piece of smooth caramel.
“Why you think?” he questioned. “Because I don’t want any trouble” He said rubbing his fist. His thuggish manner surprisingly turned her on. He couldn’t have been over twenty five. He was delicious looking, and at forty one, Janet suddenly found herself as nervous as a school girl with a crush.
“Trouble I can do without,” she said wiping her sweaty hands across her skirt. She wanted him, and she wanted him badly.
“My name is Michael, what’s yours?” He asked.
“Janet,” she answered sipping her drink and flaunting her two carat diamond ring.
“So, What are you doing out here all by yourself?”
“A lady can’t be out by herself?” Janet questioned “I come here often,” she smiled taking another sip of her drink. “I love jazz. Although I must admit, I haven’t seen you here before, and believe me I would have remembered” she said flirtatiously.
“Yeah, well, this is my first time coming here. It‘s a cool place, you know.”
“Yes, it is cool.” She smiled “I could ask the same question, what foolish young lady let you out all by yourself?” she asked, leaning in, the smell of his cologne made her desire him even more.
“I don’t answer to nobody.”
“Oh, you don’t?”
“No, I don’t.”
Two hours went by and Janet wanted him more than ever. She squeezed her thighs together tightly to control the overwhelming sensations. “Michael,” she whispered into his ear “Do you want to get out of here?”
“Damn girl you must be reading my mind.”
In the corner booth, Keith angrily watched as the two left Kelly’s arm in arm.
