“Sarah, don’t! I’m going to tell mom,” screamed Andrew. She kept walking not once looking back to see if her big brother was bluffing. A few more steps her tiny feet would be in a place she’d been warned never to go.
The woods appeared thick, dark, and somewhat sinister. Every other tree was brittle, as if they grew that way. Why can’t I hear the birds chirping, Sarah wondered. Without looking back, she kept moving forward as if something was pulling her in.
“Sarah, wait for us,” screamed Andrew.
Andrew, the oldest of the four children, refused to sit back and watch his little sister wander off into what was simply known as forbidden land. He grabbed his two brothers, who were hesitant to follow.
“Andrew, we promised Mom and Dad we would never go in there,” said Ben.
“Yeah, plus there are probably vampires and werewolves waiting to eat us,” stuttered John.
“What did I tell you about watching too many scary movies?” Andrew could not believe what he’d just heard. “Besides, we have to go after Sarah.”
Andrew gripped the baseball bat in his hand. Ben found a large stick lying nearby. John shivered as his brothers suited up for what he believed would be the worst day of their
lives.

Andrew, John, Ben and Sarah are your typical children who don’t always obey their parents. On a hot summer day, the siblings find themselves in a place they’ve been warned never to go.
While their journey is brief, it’s filled with twists and turns that make them wonder if they are hearing and seeing things that don’t exist.
The children make a pact to never say a word about what happened that day but some 25 years later their secret is revealed. Was their journey a big mistake or a part of God’s plan?

LaCheryl Tucker is a freelance writer who enjoys sharing stories of faith. She has interviewed people from all walks of life who have experienced the awesome power of divine intervention.
LaCheryl is a former television journalist of 14 years who has lived in Alabama, Ohio, and Tennessee. She enjoyed a successful career as a television anchor reporter after graduating from the University of Alabama in Birmingham. She is a five-time Regional Emmy Nominee and was named “Best Long Light Feature Story Reporter” by the Tennessee Associated Press. LaCheryl is currently a graduate student at South University. She hopes to become a professional counselor.
Of the many accomplishments over the years, LaCheryl considers the greatest of them all to be who she has become after enduring many triumphs, setbacks and roadblocks in life. She is a woman of faith who is determined to follow God’s will for her life.
