Alexander’s personal isolation and seclusion was about to come to an end. He was at a crossroads: Would this prove a blessing for others, but a curse for him? As a mental health professional, Alexander thought he had seen and experienced everything. He was wrong! Alexander, son of a minister . . . Only until recent events did he actually believe God would interrupt man and his affairs. Government and Religion were becoming a god. . . .A hybrid of the two institutions was manifesting itself as a beast that brutalized members of the populace who did not fall in line with the agenda it aggressively pursued. Independence and free will in America and her mother, Europe, were about to vanish. Things were getting dire and it all had transpired so subtly that it was too late to turn back the clock. No alarm could have prepared Alexander, or the rest of the United States, for what was getting ready to happen. Individual liberty was slowly eroding. The most powerful and influential nation ever on the face of the planet, since the Roman Empire, was decaying. Government and Religion were becoming a present-day Babylon in America and Europe and would soon entangle the entire globe. The delusion had started!
Frozen in fear, Florida’s West Palm Beach’s residents cowered behind locked doors; trembling tourists held hands in churches while others sobbed on one another’s shoulders in public facilities.
Alongside other rescuers, Alexander and his war- and rescue-trained canines—Martin and Luther—work feverishly against time….smoldering embers rose high in the air.
“You want me to walk home with you?” she asks quietly.
“Okay.”
They walk the block and a half in silence.
As they reach his driveway, Gail looks at him, her heart showing in her eyes. She quietly says, “I’ll say a prayer tonight for your nose.” With that she turns and walks away.
I stand watching her go, almost forgetting about having to face my mother with my torn shirt and my father with my bloody nose. Gail’s simple act of kindness is one I know I’ll never forget, I think. ***
Waking from his day-dreaming—he and his dogs still aboard the plane—Alexander realized, I still feel the ache in my heart as though that event as a child was yesterday. He swore under his breath; then, almost in the same breath, he repented for it.
Located just outside the military base where I trained my K-9s, I hurry into the convenience store with Gail following. “Honey, I’ll get the drinks from the fridge while you shop in front.”
Still dressed in a white lab coat and her hair pulled back with burgundy barrettes, Gail smiles mischievously, “. . . . I’m gonna beat you.”
Walking slowly I hum a familiar tune. As I walk faster to the back of the store, my cheerful disposition changes and I start whistling a sad tune under my breath. After throwing open the fridge door, I speak softly.
Suddenly, gun shots pierce the silence! Sounds of shuffling come from the front! Dropping the drink, the glass shatters. Alarmed, I hurry to the front of the store.
Alexander quickly dressed in his fatigues. He grabbed his combat knife . . . crossbow with three arrows, and his 9mm side arm from the cabinet. Picking up his gun, he whispered under his breath, “This is too light to be fully loaded. Someone has been in my house! But they were not detected by Martin and Luther or by me. Is it good that I feel God intends me to leave and leave now, while knowing my gun is absolutely useless—“
Agent [Smith] yelled, “Captain! I know you’re watching! As you can see there is no room for failure within my group. If you had only answered your phone and allowed this man to do his job, he would still be alive. I am glad that I myself emptied all of your ammunition.”
Alexander felt God temper his rage and control the desire to go recklessly straight at the man and plunge . . . .
“Alexander . . . Let the games begin.”
Alexander realized: Although I should be more terrified than I’ve ever been before, I feel as if I am not alone; as if there is someone with me, watching out for me. . . .
Undetected, immediately the dogs ran to a cave.
“The Lord has an appointment for you to be in Israel and you must lean on Him now if you are going to make that appointment.”
With suspicion Agent Alfonso looked at Martin, Luther, and Alexander. First, I’m not Agent Smith. Secondly, I don’t make mistakes.”
With resolve, Alexander walked towards the Agent. “. . . Father Francis who….was killed….shall we say, also ‘crazy as a loon! What do you know about that, Agent Alfonso?”
“I would take a vacation or something to get all these events….you may have a nervous breakdown and find yourself in an institution. How would that look? The famous dog trainer and therapist institutionalized for being paranoid!”
“Is this a threat, Agent?”
“No, Alexander.” Speaking with an even tone, Agent Alfonso looked directly at Alexander. “Things are changing. Life is changing. The world is changing. You either change with it or you don’t.” Agent Alfonso walked out of the intensive care unit.
Grinding his teeth, Alexander fumed as he watched.
“If this asteroid, my son, crashes into the eastern seaboard of America and devastates this nation as a Hildegard Prophecy may have alluded to, then the world—with the exception of Europe—will have nothing to stop it from completely collapsing.”
“Son, I believe that the news of the asteroids has pushed this country into the direction I feared it was heading already: a form of socialism- slash dictatorship. You might even have to put on an Israeli uniform when you get your duel-citizenship. I love you, Son.”
CHAPTER 30—ASTEROIDS DESTROYED, RUSSIA DESTROYED After catching his breath, Levi spoke rapidly. “Sir, “you are asked to take five platoons to Megiddo. The Russians have taken horses from Turkey and are riding into Lebanon. They will be at our border within sixteen hours, not five days!”
