He went back to work and found more sick people than he had ever seen in his life. He worked long, frustrating hours. He was having to administer three and four different antibiotics at a time and then would only get results part of the time. There were new drugs discovered that helped but with every patient that he was able to send home, another took their place.
He would go home at night and think about Mysti and what John had said about her ability to heal. He had carried her box of personal things with him when he moved to the country and decided to go through it again.
As often happens in Spring, it was storming. The power had gone out and Greg was sitting at the kitchen table with three candles lit, trying to see as he shuffled through her box of papers.
Thunder cracked and rumbled very loud all around the house. The wind blew more loudly than he had ever heard. The wind was strong and so loud that it almost sounded like millions of voices screaming all at once. He had heard that the bad weather was a result of a combination of normal Springtime weather and a few bad earthquakes all within a few weeks of each other.
So he sat there, pulling papers and other things out of her box. He would hold each item in front of the candles, so he could see and then put it in another pile. He continued, on into the night, no matter how tired he felt.
He thought he heard something and looked up. Just a few feet away, there was a huge lion. The lion looked powerful and brave. He sat there, looking at Greg with such strength, and confidence. He was so mighty that he wasn’t even concerned that Greg was so close.
Greg’s first reaction was, of course, one of immense fear. Then he thought, “Hey, wait a minute, I must be seeing things. There’s no way there is a lion in my house.” He thought maybe his fatigue was causing him to hallucinate so he looked away for just a moment and rubbed his eyes. When he looked back toward the lion, instead of it, he saw a lamb, a loving, peaceful, sweet, innocent lamb. The lamb lay there, on the floor with its front paws holding what looked like a Bible. Greg then understood that this must be a vision. Even though the lamb was so passive and sweet, Greg could tell he was confident of his power and knew how to use it.
He thought “The lion and the lamb are the same being. They are so different, yet all these different characteristics are present in this one being. Isn’t that a Bible?”
He continued to sit there, in awe of this glorious sight, wondering what it meant and what he should do. Should he say something? Should he go near? No. It was too magnificent, too powerful for him to even get up from his chair. He felt such love coming from the lamb that he was totally overcome.
He finally decided to reach for Mysti’s old Bible since the lamb was holding one, to see what happened. He reached into the box, took out the Bible, placed it on the table in front of him and then looked back up. The lamb was gone.
About that time, his whole house shook. Then thunder cracked so loudly that it sounded like a lion’s roar. Greg grabbed the three candles and held them as best he could so they wouldn’t fall over and catch all those papers on fire. He heard rain hitting the tin roof so hard that he wanted to cover his ears. Part of him wanted to feel afraid, but a bigger part of him wanted to see why that lamb had shown him a Bible.
The weather was so bad that many people who owned shelters had gone to them, but not Greg. He figured that if the storm wanted to come and take him, he had no problem with that. That would only mean that he could be with Mysti a little sooner.
Finally, things became still again and he was able to continue his work with candles lit, on into the night.
He woke the next morning with his face on the table, candles burned out. He had bought a large box of them since bad weather had been predicted and there was talk of another possible earthquake. His power was back on and there were lights on although it was daylight and fairly bright in the house.
Before he had fallen asleep, he had found some Bible quotes that Mysti had noted in her Bible. He read these passages and they had been so powerful to him that when he had awoken, he looked up the verses, to read them again.
One was Romans 8:28. It said “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”
Another was Jeremiah 29:13. It said “And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.”
And the other was James 5:14 & 15. It said “Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: (15) And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.”
Greg closed the Bible and held it, looking at it as if it were the piece to a puzzle. Then he put it on the table and went into the kitchen for something to eat.
When Greg and William were only a few miles out of town, they heard an explosion and felt the earth shake. If they had not left when they did, they would have been killed. The shelter where they had worked had been bombed.
They looked at each other and kept on going as quickly as possible.
Greg and William had discovered the secret. For years people had wondered why there were children born with Downs Syndrome. Now they knew why. These children were God’s special angels and with faith, they respond as genius. We are all God’s people. But our dear Lord loves variety! These people are special angels who’ve shed their wings to come and love us for a while! And when you treat them like angels, look at what happens!
The movement for God and his love had begun. The movement of the new generation had swept the nation.
At the same time, the people who followed Satan from behind the scenes came out and there was much uproar. The people were called Anathema Maranatha because they did not love the Lord Jesus Christ. They continued their bombings in an attempt to stop the faith. But the faith could not be stopped. It could only grow stronger! And it did!
There were wars and rumors of wars! The earth shook from quakes and storms in the heavens.
Greg and William continued their journey to the country, to get Sam and John and whoever else wanted to come. They would get them and go quickly to the mountains.
And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:13
And the time did come to pass that the promise that had been made was to be fulfilled. The questions were finally at the stage where answers appear and time does know how to stand still for those who have the key. The images become more clear. The angels do have wings! And when the spiders do begin to leave messages in their traps, they will read “THE PROMISE” with millions of sparkling dew nestled carefully on each letter. The animals will begin to tell the stories of the old and people will finally understand their language . . . for the language will be universal; as people unite and praise the Holy Name of God . . . the one who watches. For years, he was sending his angels down, one by one, with their duties. Some of them, man could see, some of them, he could not. Those who could not be seen by most could be seen by the few, the few who led the battle for peace.
And with the summer comes the winter and the last bird of paradise spreads its wings and flies away. Oh! Ere does it fly so gracefully! Never counting the days, never looking for other ways, always flying its way back home! We’re going home!
