Yesterday, My Distraction Oh yesterday, you thought you had the best of me you twirled me around, pushed me side to side; you tossed me up and down, and tried to knock me down; but you couldn't keep my back upon the ground You pierced my heart and disturbed my spirit you crippled my bones and made my tongue heavy; though you compressed my body unbearably, but you couldn't cease it When I was in despair, I called on my God and took Him up on His word for He can't lie; I cried out: "Oh Lord you said you will deliver me!" there is something powerful about that name... See yesterday, I knew you would eventually vanish away I knew you couldn't withstand that name Though you came as an earthquake and tried to crush my purpose beneath rubble, but I knew God would send his angels to hydrate and feed my soul as I waited patiently for the Holy Spirit to break me loose of your bondage Oh yesterday, you are nothing but a distraction, and I won't let you rob me of my peace anymore Yesterday, you are defeated!
