Fragile Today I saw the beauty of the flowers. I picked Indian paintbrushes, a little yellow flower and a fragile, dainty purple flower. When arriving back at the house, I found a pretty little crystal glass, filled it with cool water, and gently placed in it the flowers which I had picked. I set the bouquet on the dining room table where I could enjoy the flowers every time I sat down to a meal. The next morning the Indian paintbrushes were still bright orange, the yellow flower was a little droopy but the fragile purple flower showed no signs of life . Life is like that fragile flower; it is here one day and gone the next. The glory of man is like the flower that fades. The beauty and intricate design of the flowers reminds me of God’s intricate design. If God puts so much delicacy and beauty into the design of fragile flowers that soon disappear; how much more important we are to Him. I need not be anxious but trust in His provision for me. “So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; 29 and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?

About the Author
Jean Mattson views inspirational writing as a ministry gift whereby she can be an encouragement to those who read her books. She began with a blog and has published Poems from the Garden of My Heart. In her book, Come Along with Me on a Journey, she shares from her heart, inspirations that came while she was walking in the countryside. From her journals she shares experiences from life and from her travels overseas. Jean is part of the volunteer voice network for The Voice of the Martyrs organization, who minister to persecuted Christians around the world. She has traveled to China, Cuba, Vietnam, Laos, and Honduras. She and her husband recently celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary. They have five adult children and four grandchildren. They live in the country in a beautiful wooded area near Waco, Texas.
