Chapter 7: The Joshua Generation
Your people shall be volunteers in the day of Your power. Psalm 110:3
…but the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits. Daniel 11:32
Where are the giant-slayers? Where are those who will stand in faith––no matter what the cost, no matter what it requires to complete the work of God on this earth? I say to you, God is about to reveal to this world a Joshua Generation that is fearless, determined, stout-hearted, righteous, uncompromising, bold, and radical in their faith-walk with the Lord! They will not back down before the devil or man, but they will be faithful to speak the truth in love, no matter what the consequences might be, as they wholly obey the Word of the Lord.
They will wear the mantle of Elijah, and will soon be coming forth out of the desert place to preach a message of repentance to a sinful and compromising Church and generation. They will be like John the Baptist, for they will prepare the way for the Lord’s soon coming. They will not fear man, but will burn with God’s love and holy fear, and as living flames of fire they will go forth and resurrect millions in the power of the Holy Spirit. They will ignite the hearts of a multitude of souls and bring in a harvest that that this world has never seen. Through signs, wonders, and miracles, this company of true believers will go forth in the “greater works” of God, declaring the truth of God’s righteous standards and holiness. Jesus said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father” (John 14:12, emphasis added).
They will bring a revolution to the Church that will transform millions of souls and cause the Church to rise up in new power and authority! This army will go forth throughout the world declaring the soon-coming return of Jesus. They are the Lord’s witnesses––His true ambassadors. They will declare the coming of His kingdom through God’s power gifts, as people are healed and delivered. They will be heralds of heaven, declaring Christ’s lordship and His victory over death, sin, and the grave. As they declare His resurrection power, blinded eyes will be opened, deafened ears unstopped, and even the dead will be raised to life––both spiritually and physically.
This is a bold, lion-faced company, not unlike the warriors that gathered themselves to David in the cave of Adullam. When David escaped to the cave of Adullam, everyone who was in distress or in debt, and everyone who was discontented, gathered to him, and David became captain over them. You see, there is a generation that is discontent, a company of people who have been in the wilderness crying out to God for years, because of their hunger and thirst for more of Him. They have been robbed and plundered, and they are crying out for the fullness that God has for them. They have been in the wilderness preparing their hearts and lives for this last great move of the Spirit; they have desired to be vessels of honor in order to bring in this final harvest. They have not only experienced a natural robbery of their finances, but a spiritual robbery of their calling and inheritance in Christ, not unlike Joseph when he was robbed of his coat of many colors! They have experienced distress of soul because of their fiery trials and suffering, but they have allowed the Spirit of God to cleanse and purge them of their sin and free them from the enticements of this present age. They have been prepared by the Spirit, and will now come forth out of the wilderness in the power and might of the living God! They have a forerunner’s anointing resting upon them, to set multitudes free from their chains and captivity!
They have gone through their dark night of the soul, and have come forth victorious into the light with an anointing that will cause devils to flee and mountains to move! They will speak the Word of the Lord and it will be done. No doubt or fear will mar their souls, and they will do only what they see the Father doing. They will be mountain-moving, earth-shaking children of faith who will defy hell as they shatter the gates of hell and free millions upon millions of captives in this final hour! They walk by faith and not by what they see or feel, for they know that not a word that God has spoken to them will fail, but all will come to pass as He has spoken. (See Joshua 21:45.) Their words are power-packed words of faith, for as they speak the words of the Lord, every obstacle, every difficulty will be moved out of the way.
No root of unbelief binds their souls, for their little mustard-seed faith has fully matured. As a black mustard seed in Israel can grow to a twelve foot shrub, so these mighty warriors have fed their souls with the Word of God and have grown strong in faith, and they now walk in the faith of the Son of God.
Nothing will be impossible for this generation. Their outer shell is smashed and the life of Christ has filled them. They have a different spirit than the majority of those who call themselves Christians. This small group of believers have abandoned all and they follow Christ fully; they will go into the land and take back what the enemy has stolen from them as they stand on the promises of God in faith. (See Numbers 14:24.)
They will stand out in a crowd because their faces will shine with the glory of God, and others will know they are a different breed. The anointing that will rest upon this generation will break strong yokes from those who have been bound for years––it will even be a powerful anointing Their tongues are controlled by the Spirit of God, and they will inherit a blessing, for they do not return evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but they will bless others with their tongues. They refrain their tongues from evil, and their lips from speaking deceit. They turn away from evil and do good; they seek peace and pursue it (see 1 Peter 3:9-12). All that comes forth from their mouths brings life to others, for they speak the truth in love. They rejoice in their sufferings for others, and they fill up in their flesh what is yet needed, for the sake of Christ’s body, which is the church (see Colossians 1:24). Whether through prayer, travail, obedient service, self-denial, or fiery trials, they will do what is necessary to see others set free from sin and bondage. Their hearts are filled with a passionate love for God, for they love God with all their heart, with all their soul, and with all their strength. They are careful to walk in the commands of the Lord, and they teach them to their children when they sit in their homes or walk by the way, when they lie down and when they rise up. (See Deuteronomy 6:5-7.)
When Joshua encountered the Lord as the Commander of the army, he fell on his face to the earth and worshipped before Him; in the same way, so has this Joshua Generation encountered Christ. They have stood on holy ground, bowed to this Captain, and surrendered their lives and their allegiance to Him alone. (See Joshua 5:13-15.) They have seen the Lord face-to-face, just like Moses did, and they are willing not only to go, but also to die for the sake of Jesus and His kingdom. They have counted the cost and have abandoned all in order to see His will come forth on this earth––such is the Joshua Generation that will come forth in this last hour!
This company of warriors is made up not only of men, but also of powerful women of God who have surrendered all and counted the cost. In the kingdom of God there is neither male nor female, for God looks at the willingness of the heart, and not the outward appearance or gender. (See Galatians 3:28.)
