Bro. John quickly responded saying, “Linden, it seems that your struggle is with the concept of fairness. I get that answer quite often. People who do not believe that God is absolutely sovereign, even over salvation, like to throw out the fairness concept, believing that God is less loving if He doesn’t treat all men equally. Is that where your struggle lies?” asked Bro. John.
“I guess you could say that” said Linden.
“Remember, countered Bro. John, “that God says He will have mercy on whom He will have mercy. Just because He grants mercy to one, does not mean that He has to grant mercy to all. We would all prefer that to happen, but I cannot place my preferences above what the scripture teaches. I can prefer that God would save everyone but I cannot demand that He do so. That would be the height of arrogance on my part.
