I sat there, in the vehicle, and I started to cry. I said, “God, is this a dream?” If it was, I wanted to wake up. I didn't want any part of this cruel teasing any longer.
At that instant, the vehicle was overwhelmed by a very soothing, bright light. It didn't hurt my eyes, but I closed them anyway. Suddenly, the most incredible feeling of peace, happiness and love began to come over me. It went from the top of my head to the soles of my feet. There are no words that can come close to describing the joy that I felt. I said, “God, you're doing it, aren't you? You're answering my prayer!” This feeling of pure elation went for only a moment, but it was more than enough. I was, I believe in my heart, receiving a hug from God. My heart's desire was to know what my son has now. Wow, did I ever get an answer! God, in His infinite grace, didn't just let me see my son's joy. He let me feel it. I felt what God's love is like, unfiltered, unadulterated, and in His very presence. The love that all who are in heaven feel. Nonstop. 24/7. And the best part is, it never gets old. I would later tell my wife and daughters, “I guarantee you Jerry doesn't need a drug now. There's no greater high in the universe than what I felt!”

About the Book
A child with all the promise a parent could hope for becomes a severe addict. A father pulls out all the stops to help him, oftentimes at the emotional expense of the rest of his family. Ups and downs, good times and bad, with lots of tears and prayers in between. Searching for something—anything—that might make a difference. In the end, all seems lost. My child, my son, lost his life to drug addiction. No one can comprehend the pain unless they have experienced it themselves. There is a hole in your heart that can never be healed. All seemed lost, including my faith. God, however, never gave up on me. Through his amazing grace, He took me to heaven. I saw my son. I saw Jesus, and He spoke to me. I literally received a hug from God. This is my son’s story. This is my story.
About the Author
Jerry Haney
is a retired educator with thirty years of service in the Manatee County, Florida, school system. Those years were dedicated to molding the lives of middle school children, as a classroom teacher and administrator. After retiring, he also spent nearly two years volunteering to help the homeless at the One Stop Center in Bradenton, Florida. I Didn’t Cry Today is Jerry’s first endeavor into the world of writing.
