Forget Shoes
The bulletin board suspended above my office desk is adorned with several personal and inspirational pieces. There is a picture of me with my sister and brother taken the day we laid mom to rest, a postcard stating “Believe in Your Dreams,” a small photo of a mouse wearing a tiny red helmet; assessing the ability to snatch the cheese from a trap without his demise. The quote above his head declares, “Be determined in achieving your goals!” In the center of the board is a large wooden plaque adorned with a bright green, satin ribbon; bordered with pink and white polka dots, proclaiming, “Put on your BIG girl panties and deal with it!” A gift from my youngest daughter, ironically, just a few short months prior to being downsized from my career of eighteen years. But my favorite is a card my husband gave me on my fiftieth birthday.
Knowing my unconventional certitude regarding the need for shoes and finding discarded slippers, tennis shoes and flip-flops in every room, it says, simply … “Forget Shoes;” displaying only the bottoms of two small feet nestled in grass and the ruffled hem of a pink and white checkered dress. That statement stirred my thoughts … forget shoes? Hmmm … forget our worldly interferences, forget our day-to-day issues. Come to the Father stripped to our bare feet; walking on holy ground, dropping to our knees, giving our all to Him … leaving our “shoes” behind.

About the Book
Living in the small farming community of Nyssa, Oregon, the daily evidences of God’s creations provide for never-ending inspiration. Although Mary’s desire to write has been a passion for many years, she believes desires may also be defined as dreams. On My Knees … For These is a fifty-two-week journey of prayer and intercession. This weekly devotional allows the reader to log daily prayer requests, personal needs, and updates. Its pages are filled with intimate reflection, personal experiences, and inspirational thoughts from the author’s life, her loves, and God’ precious gifts. It is her hope that readers will draw strength and find similarities in their own life from each personal message.
About the Author
Mary's first love is her Lord and Savior and He has graciously blessed her with her second love ... her family. Mary has been married to her husband and soul mate, Robert, for nearly forty-two years. She has two beautiful and talented daughters and, together, they share in the delights and blessings fashioned by seven amazing grandchildren. Mary has been blessed with years of wonderful memories, life encounters, and joy unimaginable from God's most precious and generous gifts.
