I was convinced that Diane was downright wrong and brainwashed. I was going to show her just how ridiculous her thinking and beliefs were. She would come out with the most ridiculous statements. “Jesus was born to a virgin” and “Jesus rose from the dead” were two of them. Respectfully, I asked her, “How can a virgin become pregnant?” or “How could she believe that anyone rose from the dead?” Not only did she have an answer for these questions, but when I would ask her about things, it would always lead her to additional topics. Topics ranging from Jesus, His life, ministry, what He taught and why, His death and resurrection, as well as topics I haven’t even mentioned. My beliefs in Judaism were still extremely strong, and I was still convinced that Diane was downright wrong! Diane had Christian students as friends. I did not have many friends, as I was still a newcomer to Hofstra University, so Diane’s friends became my friends.

This inspirational story comes from a lot of pain, difficult circumstances, and trying times. I have cried many tears in my lifetime, too many for someone who is only forty-eight. Laurie Ornstein was born and raised on Long Island, New York to a wonderful Jewish family. Sixteen years ago Laurie received Jesus as her personal Lord and Savior. She has had Dystonia, a neuro - muscular condition for over 40 years.
