Many of you know me, but for those of you who don’t. Let me introduce myself. Hello, my name is Cynthia Bell. I am an over the road truck driver and I’m an addict. Sounds like an AA meeting, doesn’t it? I’m no longer addicted to crack cocaine, but to Jesus Christ. And what a difference He has made in my life. Now He is my drug of choice. I know Jesus is not a drug, but His love makes me feel high. Higher than anything I’ve ever ingested (legally or illegally). Even though, I know the scripture says, “If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.” (John 8:36) Every now and then, I’m tempted to get a little hit because I still like it. I like it enough to still leave it alone. I use to love to smoke crack and look out of the window to see if anyone is coming. Now, I’m looking for the second coming of Jesus. God gave us the instructions to walk this walk correctly, but many times we do just the opposite. He also gave us instructions on how to live holy, but we can’t. Why? It’s because we don’t have faith and we are powerless to function properly on our own. Sometimes we are powerless because of where we are in life. We may be in a situation where other people have power over us. We feel powerless even when we know what we are standing up for is right. Sometimes our powerlessness can cause us to act in a way that changes everything for the better or we feel so helpless that we run. The battle is not yours, it belongs to the Lord. The blame is not yours either, but theirs. It’s their attitude that stands in the way of making amends or maybe it is bitterness, fear, anger, shame, resentment, pride or whatever. If you’ve done all you can do and the relationship still remains broken and strained, then do it moving. Shake the very dust from your feet for a testimony against them. (Luke 9:5) You don’t have to keep trying. The Devil wanted me to remain broken and confused, so something bad would eventually happen, but God wanted me to forgive them so something good would come from it. “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” Galatians 6:9
