Clystia M. Skinner has worked in education as a teacher and is currently an adjunct professor at Friends University. She taught elementary school, junior high, and high school; she has also taught Sunday school. She spent over twenty years in the social work field working with children.
This book was inspired by Clystia's two-year-old son on a long trip across the northern plains. To deal with his boredom, he said, “Mommy, sing me a song about a helicopter.” Around Our Town was born out of that song. Clystia currently lives in Wichita, Kansas, with her husband of forty-two years and their adult daughter. Both she and her husband are semi-retired and active in ministry. They love to travel.
