In 1 Timothy 4:12, Paul writes the young Timothy, “Let no one look down on your youthfulness, but rather in speech, conduct, love, faith and purity, show yourself an example of those who believe.” The challenge has always been for young people to relate to older generations in ways that demonstrate their faith in tangible ways. In today’s fractured household there is no greater challenge for the christian teenager. What practical ways can faith be lived out that might possibly heal the rift between parents and teens, brothers and sisters, husbands and wives. How can love be demonstrated in a life of faith? It is often difficult in today’s world to gain respect as a teenager. Who is to blame? Isn’t that the question that first comes to mind? “It’s not my fault!” is the reply I often hear. And within the family is where faith is lived out daily with the most transparency (like it or not). So here we are, at an impasse. Absolutely nothing can be done if we don’t risk moving on, some how. We can play the blame game, or we can step up, own our mistakes, and move forward. I dare you to move forward, no I Double Dog Dare you.

About the Book
People are dared to do so many things throughout life. In school, dares come from friends. At home there are dares from family members. Double-Dog Dare is about hard choices people need to make every day to grow in Christ in the middle of life with family and friends. These forty dares will challenge and stretch the individual beyond what can be imagined. Each one has the potential to impact a person and those in their closest circles of life. It won't be an easy journey, but consider this a dare. No, consider it a double-dog dare!
About the Author
Donovan has been a student pastor for over twenty years experiencing life with teenagers and their families through the highest achievements and the darkest moments imaginable. He has seen the faithfulness of God throughout the years. These years in the trenches have benefited his ministry and personal growth in Christ immensely. He has pursued an education along the way and graduated from B. H. Carroll Theological Institute with a Ph D in the areas of Scripture and Witness.
Donovan is married to a former Flying Queen at Wayland Baptist University and has three children, two of which are in his current student ministry. They live in West Texas, a community built upon agriculture, hard work and three universities. These universities provide many new faces in need of Christ or individuals desiring to know more about Him. Donovan grew up in West Texas, joined the military, came back and is building a home in the wide-open space!
