Bridal Veil Fireweed

Freddie had gone to heaven it seemed.  He’d scurried through the bright forest, resting only a moment to admire all the gorgeous, new colors. Then, off to the fields above Bridal Veil Falls. Shimmering Aspen leaves, like laughing, yellow coins cheered him on.
Finally he came to his fireweed, where he raced up one, pink stem after another.  The tall plants were loaded with puffs, each filled with delicious, sweet seeds. Freddie’s cheeks grew round as bubbles, poking puff after puff into them. Once atop a stalk, his body weight caused a stem to lower him gently to the ground. But a good breeze could bring him down fast, like flying!
“Wheeee!” he wanted to call, in sheer delight.  But he had to keep his filled-mouth closed.  Soon as he landed, he raced with seeds to tuck them in a nutshell. Then off again he ran, to ascend another stalk and repeat the whole adventure.

Rushing and gasping for breath, Munk Chipper willed himself to the top of a high ledge. There, he peered out from under his disguise. Butterfly squeeked in alarm at what he witnessed below and flew up high.  There was Freddie, down in the valley, but instead of busily gathering seeds, he was stopped cold.  As if in a nightmare, Munk saw his boy paralyzed before a blazing pair of malevolent gold eyes. Eyes that bore into him, seizing him with no hope of escape.  It was Cold-Blooded Coyote.  
Poor Freddie could only twitch his puffy cheeks and frantically whip his tiny tail. There he was, helpless atop his nutshell full of treasure.  Any second now, he would be gobbled up and gone.
“All for a bunch of cotton candy,” Freddie thought, ruefully.
