At last they reached the place where they had hidden their cage. “Here we are,” announced Mi-Tu. But the cage was not there! “Wha…where is it?” he exclaimed, looking around frantically. The cage was nowhere in sight!
“Oh, dear me!” worried Ding-How. We can’t get back home without our cage and Magic Wheel!”
“Oh! No! Ah-So wailed. “We’re doomed!”
Nearby, a large brown hawk sat at the top of a very tall tree. He listened intently, as he watched the two rodents and a cat, searching frantically for something. A grumbling sound came from his stomach, and he suddenly realized he was hungry. “That looks like a fine meal,” he thought to himself, as he continued watching the activity below.
Big trouble was lurking overhead for Ding-How, Ah-So, and Mi-Tu. This dire situation begs the question (three, actually): What happened to their cage? Also, how will they get back home without their Magic Wheel? And, more urgently, what about the hungry hawk?

Ding-How and Ah-So hopped on the Magic Wheel and began to run as fast as they could. As they did so, the wheel slowly began to turn, gradually gaining speed with each turn. “Faster!” Ding-How urged. “We must run faster!” The two little friends strained with all their might to increase their speed. At last the Magic Wheel was spinning very fast. “Hold on tight, Mi-Tu!” Ding-How shouted. “Don’t let go!” By now the wheel was spinning wildly, and everything became a blur. There was a great rushing of air, and suddenly, the Magic Wheel disappeared! What just happened? And where were Ding-How, Ah-So, and Mi-Tu?
