A Light in the Window
The bright, flickering flame
danced alone on the old window sill,
keeping the darkness away,
providing a comforting warmth,
and shining its light for all to see.
A sign of hope in the dark night;
A single prayer…
winding its way up Heaven’s stairs,
and a beacon of Light,
in a world full of lost souls.
The light of Christ that burns brightly
within your soul, cannot be extinguished.
Let His Light shine brightly for others to see;
let it be a lamp unto your feet,
and a light unto your path.
May God’s Light overcome the darkness,
and may it be a light in your window...
Let it touch your soul;
Let it light up your life,
… and kindly lead you home.
Jesus said, "I am the light of the world. If any man follow me, he shall not walk in darkness but shall have the light of life," ( John 8:12)
Light, lets us see things that have been there all the time, but which, we could never see, until the light shines on it. Let the light of Jesus, light up your life. He is the only one, that can overcome the darkness. God’s word is like a candle, giving us light, shining on His works, and lighting the path before us. The bible, gives us insight into Jesus’ life and his teachings, and the miracles he performed. We can share our faith with others, and let God’s light shine brightly, for others to see.
Jesus performed many miracles, in His short life, here on earth. He healed the blind, the
crippled, the lepers, and epileptics. He even raised Lazarus from the dead! He performed many other miracles as well. He turned water into wine. He walked on water. He calmed a terrible storm, with just the words, “Peace, be still.”
The Gospel of John says, "In him was life, and the life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it." (John 1:4-5)
God grants to us the ability, to walk in the light, and to shine in our darkened lives!
Thank You God
Thank you God
for the little things in life:
Thank you for our loved ones smiles,
and for our friends that are near,
and across the miles.
Thank you for the sun, moon,
and stars that shine.
Thank you for good health,
and this beating heart of mine.
Thank you for the earth and sky,
and for the dear little baby’s cry.
Thank you for hearts to love,
and hands to pray,
Thank you God, for each and every day.
Thank you, for the birds that sing,
…Thank you God, for everything!
Our lives are so fragile and so precious. You’ll never know the time, or the hour, when your time will be up. So, are you ready, right now, if God was to call you home?
I have a beautiful testimony for you, about the love of God, and the awesome power of prayer. This story is about a true real-life miracle, and it is a heartwarming story of faith, despite overwhelming odds.
I have a friend, in our gem and mineral club, that facets beautiful, “sparkling” gemstones from ordinary, rocks and gems. He had previously, been stung in the neck, by a scorpion, and his wife took him to the emergency room, where he was hospitalized for complications. He was in the hospital for three days, with pain and swelling in his neck. The hospital was about to discharge him, when he developed a high fever, and an apparent infection, so at the last minute they decided to keep him in the hospital.
His wife was in the room with him, and was at his bedside, when suddenly he turned blue and he stopped breathing. Startled, she yelled for the nurses, and then she started CPR. The nurses and doctors came running in, and they continued CPR. He had been gone for twenty- nine minutes, when they finally got his heart beating again; intubated him; and placed him on a ventilator. He was totally unresponsive, and his wife was told that he was in a coma. His wife and his two daughters came to visit every day, but he remained comatose. They talked to him, and prayed for him every day. They turned him, and rubbed his hands and feet, but he still had no response after three days.
The hospital advised his wife, that he showed no brain activity, and it would be best to turn off the ventilator, and just let him go. She went immediately to her church, and cried and prayed for a sign from God. She went back to the hospital, and she told them “no’, and they were to keep him on the ventilator. She and her daughter, sat diligently by his bedside daily, and one day, she saw his little finger move. His wife ran out and told the nurses, but they said it was just a nerve response, and otherwise it was nothing. He remained comatose for seven days. She had been asked repeatedly, if she would give permission to turn off the ventilator, but his wife continued to say no. She still had a strong faith in God, and despite great odds, she believed that a miracle would happen.
On the seventh day, that “miracle” finally happened: He suddenly, opened his eyes and woke up, with his wife, still at his side, praying for him. She had refused to give up on him, and she continued to believe, in the power of prayer. My friend, knows that this was a true miracle, and that their prayers were answered by God. The power of prayer can never be overstated, never give up praying, and never give up hope. My friend is alive today, because of his family’s belief in God, and in the great power of prayer. His life is a real miracle! Praise God for His awesome power!
