As I kept myself busy and hurried through the day
I passed a group of children, happy and carefree at play
But one child was alone-he was so small and frail
The tears he had cried left a dirt stained trail
Again I looked up toward the sky so blue
And again I asked, Lord, what shall I do?
The answer came down like a bolt from above
Just give him love, Just give him love
I did all I could to calm the child's fear, give him courage and make him feel safe
And then like before, I picked myself up and went on my way

Down by the Barn features pictures and poems to make you laugh, cry, reminisce, and think. The simple things in life are often the best. Sometimes the challenge is to find them, even though they continually surround us.
About the Author
Sharon Sockey (Pettigrew) is author of the novel Like a Panther in the Night and the recently published Down by the Barn, a book of pictures and poems. She also enjoys songwriting and photography. Sharon lives in Oklahoma, where she is currently working on her next book.
