As a young woman I misbehaved,
sinfully, out of hand.
As I grew my schemes grew too
but God...
had other plans.
I chased the boys, bought bigger toys,
my life was lonely and bleak.
I followed the mod crowd,
the music was loud
but God...
was beginning to speak.
I turned up the tunes to drown out the sound.
I didn't want to listen or hear.
My life was mine, I wanted my time
but God...
made His voice clear.
Now I'm older and wiser by far
don't care to be chic or mod.
I would still be chasing false promises and lies
down the road to nowhere
...but God

About the Book
Before I became a christian I allowed life's difficulties to dominate most of my waking thoughts. As you will see in the first 20 pages, I did not cope well with adverse situations, (lost love, lost job, little money, etc). The remainder of the book shows how Jesus can change lives when it's no longer "all about me", that's when I learn that "I can do all things through Christ who gives me the strength". This is a sort of before and after story in poetry form.
Problems will still come....but God!
About the Author
I was raised in a small town in Arkansas. My family went to church so I knew about Jesus but didn't have a personal relationship with him until I was in my 30's.
I was a rebellious young adult and had to learn many life lessons the hard way.
I am a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
I started writing poetry as a teenager and have never stopped.
Since I recently retired I can now devote as much time as I want to my love of writing poetry.
