The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him. (Lamentations 3:25 ESV) Angelic sweetness. The sun was setting and the air was thick with summer heat. A golden hue surrounded them. Their wild red hair cascading down onto their shoulders. Heads of tangled, soft, messy hair- they were the epitome of innocence and childlike joy in their summer dresses and dirty feet. They stood there and laughter poured out from deep within their hearts like music. I was captivated. There they stood, the two young sisters, freckled and wide eyed- staring up into the sky. Suddenly both reached out their hands. Palms up and open, as if waiting to be given some treasure. And then I saw it. A butterfly came and landed in the younger girl’s hand, resting for a brief moment, and instantly the sisters were elated, and then it flew away again- returning to the sky to continue dancing with dusk. Their hands stayed open-waiting for the butterfly to come back. And it did come back, landing in their open hands and then it would fly away again. I sat in amazement, and suddenly laughter had begun to well up inside of my own heart, and I realized my hand was reaching up to the sky, hoping that the winged creature would come visit me. I watched the butterfly dance through the air, swooping and floating, it was lovely and graceful. But what was even lovelier was the image of the little girls standing n confidence with their hands stretched out, unafraid that they might have looked like fools. This memory will stay with me for a very long time. As I envisioned their tiny hands open and eager, the Lord whispered to my heart. “Open your hands, child. Reach out, and wait. I have something lovely that I want to give you. Open your hands”.

In Nehemiah chapter 2, Nehemiah speaks to his officials, " Then I said to them, "You see the trouble we are in: Jerusalem lies in ruins, and its gates have been burned with fire. Come, let us rebuild the wall of Jerusalem, and we will no longer be in disgrace." I also told them about the gracious hand of my God upon me and what the king had said to me. They replied, "Let us start rebuilding." So they began this good work." (Nehemiah 2:17-18) The Walls of My Heart is a collection of stories, verses, poetry, and insight that are each meant to challenge and encourage in a unique and personal way. In the style of a devotional, each entry will serve to present the Word of God and practical application that comes from a personal relationship with Christ. This book was written as a collection of personal testimonies from the life of the author, and illustrates redemption, restoration, and hope for an abundant life with Christ. May this book serve as a guide for the blind and offer strength and courage to the weak. May His grace abound, as the walls of your heart crumble, and new walls of truth are built.

Tatiana Maglione is a graduate from Moody Bible Institute who has a passion for communicating biblical truth and spiritual insight. She has spent the last three years culminating her abilities in presenting the truth of the Gospel, and developing the necessary skills to communicate effectively. She has a deep desire to share the truths that God lays on her heart, and to encourage and challenge others in their relationship with Christ as she presents Biblical truth through writing.
