Unexpected encouragement - Psalm 73:26
My Mom who is 92 years old has Alzheimer’s and is in a nursing home. She hasn’t known us for a couple years. It is very difficult to see her with that blank stare or smile as if looking at a stranger. We can no longer have conversations with her. When my father died a couple years ago, my siblings and I had the chore of cleaning out their belongings. One of the items I kept was one of their Bibles. Apparently, Mama and Daddy shared this Bible because there are handwritten notes by both of them. One morning in my quiet time when I was particularly burdened, I came across my Mother’s handwriting. It said, Encouragement, Psalm 73:26 with a circle drawn around it. What a wonderful verse it was for me that day. My Mother was speaking to me through that note, encouraging me with that verse. I wondered with tears rolling down my face, if she had any idea that one day that simple note would give me just what I needed that day when she could not. I know for sure that God did. That’s just like Him. He knew exactly when she wrote it and the day it would touch me. I felt closer to her for those few moments than I had for years, and close to God for giving me that unexpected encouragement.

About the Book
Starting each morning with God is a must. Studying the Holy Word and talking to God everyday can change your life. I set my alarm atleast 30 minutes early every day to allow time with God. Keeping a prayer journal helps me to focus on my prayer, crying out to God with an honest heart. God longs to hear from us. I started writing devotions to help me cope with difficult times and before I knew it, I set a goal of 365. Each of these devotions were revealed to me from God as we spent time together every morning and throughout the day. I hope these words will bless you as much as they have blessed me.
About the Author
Alicia jacobs was born and raised in the Midlands of South Carolina, blessed with Christian parents who raised her to trust in God in all things. She enjoys reading, writing, horses, watching Westerns and music. Alicia has found that journaling her prayers and quiet time with God helps to focus and speak honestly with God and is especially helpful in difficult and trying times. She started this collection of devotions fifteen months ago while experiencing a crisis in life. She is hopeful these writings will be helpful to her readers, as every time we speak with God brings a new opportunity, a new morning, a new day.
