Sonship

Salvation is called an inheritance
What a father would give to his son
Not because he deserves it
In spite of what he has done


So many sons undeserving
Have received their father’s reward
Given great wealth they’re unworthy of
So have the sons of the Lord


Nobody chooses their father
No son ever asked to be born
No one deserves to be born again
And to be so richly adorned


To be clothed in robes of righteousness
Righteous in spite of my sin
Receiving the victor’s crown
For a battle I didn’t win


Possessing a treasure I didn’t earn
The result of nothing I’ve done
A gift that was given to me by my Father
Because He chose me as His son
