Consecration means devoted to God. It means separation from common use and solemn dedication to a sacred use. The consecrated life is a life dedicated to the will of God. One glaring example is the offering of Samuel to God. The full account can be read from the book of 1 Samuel 1:19-28. His mother, Hannah, had prayed for a son and made a vow: “And she vowed a vow, and said, O LORD of hosts, if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thine handmaid, and remember me, and not forget thine handmaid, but wilt give unto thine handmaid a man child, then I will give him unto the LORD all the days of his life, and there shall no razor come upon his head.” 1 Samuel 1:11. The Lord granted her request and she kept her vow – she consecrated Samuel to the Lord. It is recorded as follows: “For this child I prayed; and the LORD hath given me my petition which I asked of him: Therefore also I have lent him to the LORD; as long as he liveth he shall be lent to the LORD. And he worshipped the LORD there.” 1 Samuel 1:27-28. Samuel never returned to his parents. He remained at Jerusalem serving God. Likewise, when you consecrate yourself to the Lord, you turn your back to the things of the world, and look intently upward to God, serving Him all the days of your life. The Bible explains it this way: “Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness. But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.” Romans 6:18, 22. We desire that God will grant us the grace to be consecrated to Him wholly all the days of our lives for truly, that is the whole duty of man.

Together, they have the burden of helping Christians achieve spiritual growth and maturity.
