Since he had already tried to kiss me a few times, and hearing this now, I knew he was trying to trick me. I laughed. Shaking my head, I told him “No-oo…you’re just teasing me.” I knew he really wanted to kiss me. That was obvious. But, always the gentleman, he respected my wishes, yet, he used any cute ploy to persuade my inner longings. After that evening, every time he passed by me, he would jingle the coins in his pocket and wink. Each time, it would send an electric current through my whole body. For years to come, for the rest of our lives, no matter where we were, that wink remained our secret communication and spoke a ’loud’ “I love you” across a crowded room. That wink never lost its magic.

About the Book
Joan Saner Harder became captivated by a pair of blue eyes and a wink at the age of fifteen. Will was the new boy at the small community high school they attended in Kansas. The quality of his character captured her heart. From the first moment their eyes met, their love grew into an unbreakable bond that would last until the end of time. This writing grew out of the journals she kept during her deepest sorrow of losing him, the greatest love she’d ever known. From the day she found herself alone for the first time in her life, she discovered that writing about their journey together was therapeutic. Joan Saner Harder lives in Pocatello Idaho. She and her late husband, Will are parents of four married children, and ten grandchildren. Writing her first book has been an inspiring challenge. Retired, Joan enjoys writing, gardening, and entertaining, although she draws her greatest pleasure when her family comes to visit.
