It's not something you want to hold over your child's head; look at it as the criteria for your "house rules." When your children are able to provide all of these things for themselves, they can do whatever they want; they no longer have to follow your rules. But If you decide to give up your authority to meet their demands or desires, and try to become their best friend, you will lose the battle, and in the end, they will not Respect you."
