Doxology

THE RIVER

There’s a river that’s been flowing

Throughout all eternity.

It’s flowing as you read these lines,

And forever it will be.

It flowed through the Garden of Eden.

It flows from Heaven above.

Its waters are for those who hurt,

It’s the river of God’s love.

And the river kept on flowing

Even after the fall of man,

And it overflowed at Calvary

When Christ suffered for my sin.

Its healing waters have always been

Refreshing, clean, and pure,

And through ages, sin-sick mortals

Have found in them the cure.

One day I looked into this flow,

And saw my sad reflection.

I bathed in its healing waters,

And experienced redemption.

The river is always flowing,

For those enslaved by sin,

And the invitation is open –

Come to the river, and dive in!

God will take the guilt of all your sin,

And eternal life He’ll give,

For this river is like none other –

When you drown in it, you live!
