Answers

I was watching the news last night when O'Reilly interviewed the parents of the recently slain thirty three year old Kate Steinle. He asked her father ,who was just walking with her in San Francisco on a family vacation, what her last words were. Mr Steinle ,fighting tears, finally responded, "she said, help me dad." I was overwrought thinking "What if that was my daughter?" I cannot imagine the terrible anguish. I have thought death can come so suddenly to anyone, even someone just enjoying a day with family. Understanding that we all must die sometime I wonder why some have to die so tragically and at a young age. I can only come up with one answer. I believe God put us here to learn to love each other and through that process love God. We are given this life and told to appreciate life ad loved ones. We are to live life in the fullest but be careful because it is a dangerous world filled with evil and pitfalls. We are not promised to be safe from all dangers but we are promised God will always give us the strength and love to endure pain and suffering. We must understand that pain and suffering can bring us closer to the understanding of God's love.

Just as our Constitution was not perfect, we the people are not perfect in our interpretation. We are advised by the Federalist papers to continue to be informed in order to promote better government. We often are divided in our opinions, and in our efforts to understand our system of government, we use political methods to persuade the people that our understanding is better than theirs. The nature of politics is to overstate things in a manner that will develop followers. By failing to remain informed, even to the point of failing to teach government in our schools, we may be swayed in undesired directions. Some factions want us to believe that the First Amendment provides for the freedom from religion, instead of providing for free exercise thereof. It simply states that the government shall not establish any one religion for the entire country, but we are free to follow any religion. I believe that the founding fathers did not mean that to include any ideology that had a primary purpose of destroying our method of government through a process that is a core element of what some would present as a religion.
