11:30 p.m. Saturday.
G: Awake?
M: Sure! How did it go?
G: Worst day of my life!
M: Impossible.
G: You should have seen the looks on their faces when I came up to collect my award – sniggering, whispering. I swear I wanted to dry up and die!
M: 😐...trying to visualize!
G: I know. I shouldn’t swear. It was so embarrassing!
M: I’m sorry you felt that way. What was the award for again?
G: For highest achievement.
M: How many of you received it?
G: Just me.
M: Wow! That must be a big deal!
G: Yeah, I guess.
M: Why let people steal your joy on a day like this?
G: Easy for you to say – you’re older and you can handle it. I couldn’t even remember my speech, so I just said thank you to everyone who supported me and flew off the stage.
M: Not really – I still have to ask God for help.
G: ⌛⌛...good thoughts.
M: I am reassured that He’s with me, and that gives me confidence – no matter what my hair looks like.
G: But my hair was awful!
M: Beauty is in the eye of the beholder – not the media.
G: ☹☹...not helping!
M: You know something? The Lord loves you just the way you are.
G: 😐😐...a little better.
M: You know that you are fearfully and wonderfully made?
G: Fearfully sounds right. No one will want to look at me.
6:00 p.m. Monday.
M: Hey, did you read the blog I sent?
G: Dude!👍👍
M: I know, right?
G: Easier to read it than to live it though.
M: Not if you depend on God, like the blog said.
G: I don’t know that God can make me feel different. All that talk is good. but I still don’t have six-packs and my ’fro is a no!
M: LOL.
G: Exactly!
M: God helps you understand that the outside isn’t that important. What matters at the end of the day is what’s on your inside.
G: ⌛...hmmm.
M: A man isn’t truly rich just because he has tons of cash. Cash is good, but think about the love of a mother for her child. How much does the child pay for that? Think about air that is freely available to us all, the good, bad, and ugly. The air is priceless.
G: ⌛...hmmm.
M: Don’t get me wrong. You do need to freshen up consistently. ☺☺
G: LOL.
M: At the end of the day, whether six pack or one pack, whether ‘unibrow and zits’ or sculpted face, you need to believe in the real you inside of you. You must have the cour-age to love yourself and believe in yourself.
G: Thanks.
M: Your rep is important but should be based on the important things in life – not the glitz and the glam.
G: ☺☺
M: Colossians 3, verses 1 and 2, reminds us to set our hearts on things above, where Christ is.
G: Speaking of which, I don’t think I’m really seated where Christ is.
M: No worries. Getting there is just a prayer away!🔔✆
M: Sorry. I’ve got to go now, incoming call. I’ll share a blog I read about the important things in life, and we can talk about being seated where Christ is when I’m done. It’s a long read, a bit heavy too, but be patient with yourself and read the whole thing, OK?
G:👍👍
M: Cheers.
