The disease came from having little and getting less so when he smacked me for the first time the disease had taken root and was firmly planted deep in his heart. Hands, that should have protected me and recue me, instead, pushed me into dark places. He was familiar with these places. His own introduction came from his father’s hands and its familiarity made it easy for my father to share.

About the Author
Rebekah Marquez started writing at the age of 13. Growing up she told people that someday she would be a writer. While in college she was inspired by professors to continue her gift and published a few of her poems in the college journals. She gave up her dream of writing to raise two daughters. Today she continues to write but mostly for herself at least until she wrote Talitha Koum, Little Girl Rise.
