About the Author

Forty years ago, I didn’t think I would live to be eighteen years old. I told God, “If this is what I have to look forward to then let’s end it now.”

I heard a voice—soft, kind, that filled my very core, and God said, “Hold your peace and you will be blessed. I will take care of that.”

These words I kept in my mind: “I am blessed. God will take care of what’s happening to me …”

I played sports in high school and became captain of the pom-pom squad. I also joined the Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA), was voted to represent the Y teens, and was sent to Los Angeles and Washington, D.C. For college I enrolled at Purdue, then Howard. I passed my nursing boards, taught ACLS, and eventually enrolled in law school. After receiving my JD, I passed the bar and was sworn in at the United States Supreme Court. I am President of the South Suburban Illinois NAACP and Dean of Midwest Bible College. I have a master’s degree in theology and a doctorate in ministry.
