Who Sex Esteem is for?

God has a pretty funny sense of humor. Its January 2016 and I am holed up in my favorite cottage writing this book, a book that has been in my head for years, going on ten years actually. At this current moment, I am being pursued by someone who thinks I hung the moon. I have not had sex with this someone. I am wrestling with a new frontier as a youth leader of many years who now is getting to practice what I have preached through living pure, not only but primarily abstaining from sex. I find this comical because I am writing a book on Sex Esteem while wrestling with what that truly means. I love how God takes us right to the edge so our continual reliance is on Him not us. So let’s roll, not literally.

I spent years finding my identity through the wrong channels, pick one and there will be a story about it…..sex, work, motherhood, marriage, friendship..…the list goes on. I am now at a place where I can see the balance between being a woman of God and being a woman who understands her passion, worth and value. It is a beautiful landing place.

Passion has always been part of my DNA. During my Christian walk it has ok to be passionate about God, children, missions, youth and things that are generally “accepted” as the things good Christians are passionate about.

The rub, as our awesome Shakespeare would say, is that today’s world has not allowed us to be passionate about the sensual things in life. We have a whole side of us that is very sensual and wired by God that way. We have done a lousy job encouraging married couples to have more sex than anyone and it seems that the hottest, wildest worlds are far from the creator who actually created this pleasure in the first place. We have lots of sex before marriage and then little to none after. We have it backwards.
