Matthew 11:28-30
Jesus invites the weary and heavy-laden people of His day to come to Him and find rest. This same invitation is extended to each of us today. The circumstances of life are burdensome and, at times, extremely difficult. Jesus is aware of this fact. As a result, He offers us rest.
To demonstrate the manner by which we receive His rest in the midst of life's burdens, Jesus uses an illustration from farming. An ox would be fitted with a yoke in order to plow the field. If we take Jesus's yoke upon us, we are able to go through life in a state of rest. Now, this truth does not mean that we are to go through life unproductively and simply "coast" into eternity. He is not speaking about that type of rest. The yoke indicates that we are working. However, the yoke of Jesus is perfectly fitted upon each of us, enabling us to fulfill our heavenly calling and to experience His rest and peace at the same time. If we try to carry our own burdens, taking as it were our own yokes upon us, we will be heavily burdened and will not experience rest during our journey through life.

This devotional project, which is divided into four volumes, provides the reader with a chronological look at the Four Gospels, insights into each of the recorded accounts of the events in the life of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, and the opportunity to apply this information to his or her life, through each day's Ponder Point. The use of these devotionals will enhance the reader's walk with the Lord by enabling him or her to continue to grow in His "grace and knowledge" (2 Peter 3:18).
